Prospectus Design

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to design several prospectuses for further education and training colleges across Ireland. These projects combine two things I really enjoy: working with structured content, and creating clear, engaging layouts that help students navigate their options. Each brochure was unique—tailored to the college's identity and audience—while still meeting practical needs like readability, visual hierarchy, and brand consistency. Here's a look at some of the designs I created from concept to completion.

Rathmines College

I was genuinely excited to take on this project—partly because I’ve always enjoyed designing prospectuses, catalogues and reports, and partly because I used to admire Rathmines College’s iconic clock tower every time I passed it on the 15A bus. This 40+ page prospectus covers detailed information about the college’s courses and student life. The client specifically requested that all course subject names be displayed on the cover, and of course, the building itself needed to feature prominently. That gave me the idea of arranging the text within circular shapes—like the face of a clock—a nod to the building’s most recognisable feature. I worked on this project from concept to final delivery. While respecting the college’s existing brand guidelines, I developed a new colour system to differentiate course categories, making the content more user-friendly and visually navigable. This concept extended into other materials I designed for Rathmines, helping build a cohesive visual identity across touchpoints. Visit Rathmines College Website

Whitehall College Prospectus

In early 2023, I was asked to design a new prospectus for Whitehall College. The brief included a specific request for a square format, which gave me the chance to develop a fresh, custom layout. To tie the design closely to the college’s branding, I used their logo—a set of seven rounded squares—as inspiration. Rounded corner squares became a recurring visual element throughout the brochure, helping to establish a clear brand connection. The cover features a grid of vibrant student photos, celebrating the diversity of the student body. I listed each department on the cover as well, using a distinct colour for each—an approach I carried through the interior design. This **colour-coded system** is especially useful in the index, where it allows for quick reference and intuitive navigation. To add a playful, modern feel, I rotated the course titles and page numbers by 90 degrees. It’s a small detail, but one that gives the layout a distinctive and contemporary look, while still being easy to read. The final pages include practical information about public transport options and a custom map highlighting the college’s location—useful for prospective students planning their visit. More Prospectuses

I also designed prospectuses for the following colleges, applying the same design principles: clear structure, consistent branding, and engaging layouts.
